First, a big "thank you" to Christian and Georges (and their respective families) for opening their homes to let 15
grown men race little electric cars. Having hosted several races with large numbers of participants ("axe murderers"...), I know how much work is
involved organizing an event like this. I can only imagine how much more work was involved "transforming" the event due to lower-than-expected
participation from other clubs. I think other participants would agree Christian, Georges and the entire Select Racing Club get an A+!! Very well done!
To Georges and others who setup the cars for the event, thank you and well done! The event format also ensured no one team had a decided advantage over other
teams based on car performance.
To SCX (Dave Kennedy) - thank you for helping to sponsor this great event. The event t-shirts which featured an SCX logo were worn with pride by many
participants. The SCX Nascar's which were used for the second half of the event performed flawlessly. The quality and performance of SCX products continues
to improve and their willingness to get involved with events like this is very refreshing indeed.
Next, thanks to Christian and Aime (my teammates) for putting up with me. I enjoyed being part of Team Ferrari with you and appreciate both of you jumping in toward the end to give my hand/wrist a break - thank you! For those who were not there, I did not yell at any track marshals...
To other members of the Select Racing Club and racers who joined us from the greater Montreal area, it was great to meet you!! If it were not for slot car racing (and this event...) it is not likely our paths would have ever crossed. Where you finish in these events will eventually be forgotten (or at least, greatly exaggerated...) - it is the friendships and camaraderie that ultimately "endure" and make these inter-club events so special. I look forward to racing with all of you again!
To Sylvie (sp?) - thank you for recommending the General Tao pizza - it was excellent!! To Sylvie, Christian and Georges, thank you for going to dinner with us Saturday night and for the wonderful tour/walk of the city. We especially enjoyed Christian's commentary of the historical significance of the Plains of Abraham - his sense of humor is a breath of fresh air! Quebec City is truly a special place - I will be returning with my family. To Georges - Andy/I enjoyed the ride to/from your home to downtown Quebec City. Pulling into our parking space and pulling 3G's was especially memorable ... LOL!!
To Georges - thank you for giving Andy and I a place to stay Saturday night (not to mention putting up with us...) - we both rested very, very comfortably! You are truly a most gracious host!
To Dickie, thank you for making our trip up a bit easier - we appreciated a place to stay Thursday night and for your outstanding driving off the track. We were also amazed at Robin's driving - Andy/I have never seen anyone "drive" so well from the passenger seat... :-))
Finally, to those of you who could not make the trip to Quebec City for this event, you truly missed the best inter-club event
ever. Hopefully you will be able to join us for the next NEC event to experience racing and hospitality north of the border firsthand. Sign me up!
Steve/Andy

). The Slot.It cars were a challenge for sure, and with the 2 compound tires
available, certainly made for some interesting strategies throughout the racing on Christian's track. I was really looking forward to racing them on
George's track, but the old weakness of the guide posts reared it's ugly head, with 3 cars getting broke. But once again, Team Select had it under
control, and quickly made the decision to switch to the SCX Nascars for the 2nd half of the event. It turned out to be a great decision, as the racing here was
very, very close all the way through. It was hard to catch many of the other drivers, and when you did, it was even harder to pass. And it was especially
amazing that, even after 17+ hours of racing, racers were still laughing about the on track "incidents", even if they were the "victim".
Even when the inside guy wiped out 2 or 3 of the other guys in the corners, there was always a bunch of laughing going on. Those guys up there in Quebec are
really an awesome bunch of guys to race with
And yeah, I'll be building a dog house too, I'm gonna need it
